Downed pole closes Barnesville road for hours

BARNESVILLE – A road in rural Barnesville was closed for a few hours Wednesday when a utility pole was downed.

Scanner reports said a logging truck sheared the utility pole in the area of Hilltop Road and Fairview Street in the Rush Township portion of the village.

Fire crews from Ryan, Rush, and Delano Townships were called to the scene around 1:00pm to handle traffic control at Route 54 and Bernhard Road.

Rush Township Police at the scene could not confirm any information or provide any further details, referring any inquiries to Chief Ken Zipovsky, who could not be reached by Wednesday night.

The road reopened around 3:30pm, and closed again after 9:00pm while Hope’s Towing removed the truck.
