Crash closes Main Street in Gilberton overnight

GILBERTON – No injuries were reported when a Jeep struck a utility pole, knocking down a telecommunications line and closing Main Street between here and Mahanoy City overnight.

The crash happened just after 1am in the area of the Gilberton Coal Company offices on Main Street in the borough.

A Jeep SUV headed east towards Mahanoy City struck a utility pole, disabling the vehicle and bringing down a utility line.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

Firefighters from Gilberton and Mahanoy Plane responded along with Shenandoah Ambulance.

State Police at Frackville are investigating.
