EAST NORWEGIAN TWP. – A former auto care facility, which entertained passing motorists via a roadside marquee until its closure, may soon become our region’s first Jersey Mike’s location.

The New Jersey-based sub chain, according to their website, has over 2,000 open or under development locations.

The website lists a large swath of under development locations, and, among them is one addressed to Pottsville, specifically 378 Pottsville Saint Clair Highway.

That address is the former Aamco Transmission shop on Route 61 across from the Fairlane Village Mall in East Norwegian Township.

The shop closed in mid-2019 and Schuylkill County property records show the property was purchased by Point Five Development, LLC of Highridge, New York in July of 2019.

The website for Jersey Mike’s lists little information about the new location, simply providing an address along with “Scheduled to Open Soon.”

The location would be the first in Schuylkill County, with the next nearest locations being in the Allentown, Reading, and Wilkes-Barre areas.
