SHENANDOAH – Thanks to a community donation drive, the Shenandoah Little League has a new automated external defibrillator, or AED.

The league already had one, which was nearing the end of its lifespan.

“Their generosity provided this new machine for us,” Little League President Dave Bench said of the donors.

That donation effort included 18 families and community members, plus the 2006 Little League All Star team and the Shenandoah Community Ambulance.

Joe Palubinsky was one of the organizing donors and said the need for such a device was emphasized when Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed in a playoff game against Cincinnati this past season.

He said many of the donors had children who passed through the Shenandoah Little League program or have generally been supportive of the community.

“They just jumped in,” Palubinsky said. “It speaks to the generosity of the town that people want to do something like this to help out.”

“Hopefully they’ll never have to use it,” Palubinsky added.
