CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Porch collapses on East Coal

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - A spotlight shines on the collapsed porch roof at 219 East Coal Street.

SHENANDOAH – No one was hurt when a porch roof collapsed on East Coal Street on the east end of town late Saturday night.

The collapse happened just before 11:00pm at 219 East Coal Street. Neighbors reported that the roof had been slowly coming down throughout the evening.

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL – A PPL Electric Utilities worker disconnects power from the home.

First responders were called to the scene, after the roof came down completely, to assess the situation.

The home still had power hooked up, and PPL Electric Utilities was called.

One neighbor, seeing signs that the porch was caving in, began recording with their cell phone, and provided the video to the Sentinel. The video has been edited for brightness.

The home is owned by Misael Rodriguez Lopez, Hazleton, according to the Schuylkill County Parcel Locator.

He purchased the home in December for $5,000, according to the parcel locator.

The two neighboring homes are occupied, though did not appear to sustain damage.
