Firefighters were called to the 1000 block of Market Street around 8:30pm for a reported house fire.

Groody said the fire could be seen throughout town, which prompted the striking of a second alarm.

Crews from Ashland, Girardville, Aristes, Atlas, Mount Carmel, Altamont, Fountain Springs, and more responded to the scene as part of the alarm assignments.

Shenandoah’s Rescue Hook and Ladder fire co. was requested later for their tractor-drawn aerial.
