PSP helicopter helps find water main break in town

SHENANDOAH – You may have heard a low-flying helicopter over the west end Thursday morning as crews tried to find a water main break impacting town.
The Pennsylvania State Police dispatched a helicopter, Trooper 1, to help Aqua Pennsylvania crews locate a water main break, according to Trooper Ethan Brownback, public information officer for Troop L.
The helicopter, he said, was to fly between town and the reservoirs at Raven Run.
It was over the area around 9:30am and was out of the area by just after 10am.
Around 11am, Aqua’s disruption map says a water main break was found on North Gilbert Street near Centre Street.
Aqua crews and outside contractors were working on Gilbert between Centre and Mount Vernon streets as of 12:45pm.
They said the break caused “reduced pressure to our customers.”
Borough Manager Mike Cadau says the Shenandoah Fire Department has a tanker task force ready in case of a fire during the water main break.
