Kline plans another Saturday morning meeting, set for school gym
KELAYRES – Kline Township has a larger venue secured for their rescheduled January meeting set for Saturday morning.
According to a public notice published Sunday in the Hazleton Standard~Speaker newspaper, the township’s board of supervisors will meet Saturday, Jan. 17 at 9am at the McAdoo-Kelayres Elementary/Middle School, 15 Kelayres Road, in the gym.
A planned Amazon data center near Lofty is expected to be discussed at the meeting. It was originally on the December agenda, drawing a beyond capacity crowd that led to the meeting’s postponement.
It was moved to the Department of Public Works garage next door to the municipal building on Saturday morning, Dec. 20. While Amazon’s plans were no longer on the agenda, a capacity crowd again came out and voiced opposition and concern.
Supervisors at the time said they were seeking a larger venue for the January meeting and would provide public notice. The Sentinel requested such notice and provided contact information, though no such notice was provided.
