Open house planned for power company plans to expand pole line, build switchyard for ‘new customer facility’

FRACKVILLE – PPL Electric Utilities will hold an open house next Tuesday regarding a plan to reconstruct a pole line between Frackville and Sunbury and build a new switchyard in Butler Township for “a new customer facility.”
The open house is set for 6pm to 8pm at the North Vo-Tech, 101 Technology Drive, Frackville, on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
In a public notice published in a Sunbury daily newspaper, PPL says the project will “help to improve reliability, protect the grid from extreme weather and reduce the frequency and duration of outages.”
“The line itself will be rebuilt on expanded right-of-way along the existing corridor,” PPL said in the notice. “As part of this effort, PPL Electric will also construct a new switchyard in Butler Township, Schuylkill County, as well as two new 230 kV transmission lines to connect a new customer facility to the proposed switchyard.”
The open house, they said, will follow an open-house format, and there will be no agenda or formal presentation.
Another open house is set for Wednesday in the Selinsgrove area.
