Local schools to receive funding boost with new state budget
SHENANDOAH – With the new state budget, local schools will be receiving a financial boost.
The Shenandoah Valley School District, for example, will receive 11.3% more funding from the state this year — an increase of $1,584,559 — according to figures provided by State Senator Dave Argall (R-Schuylkill).
Mahanoy Area will receive $556,174 more, or 4.3%, while North Schuylkill will get $1,284,110, or 8.5%.
The most sizeable increase is in the Hazleton Area School District, which will receive an additional $15,031,624, an increase of 16.5%.
