Shenandoah man accused of federal child sex crimes

SHENANDOAH – A Shenandoah man is facing federal charges for what they termed child exploitation offenses.

Craig Kimmel, 54, was indicted last week by a federal grand jury, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Kimmel, authorities said, attempted to produce a visual depiction containing the sexual exploitation of a child.

He is also accused of coercion and attempting to entice a minor to engage in prostitution.

He had previously been convicted of indecent assault and attempted statutory rape in Schuylkill County, federal authorities said.

The maximum penalty under federal law for this offense is a lifetime term of imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.
