ShenSentinel wins six Keystone Media Awards

SHENANDOAH – The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association this week announced the winners of the 2025 Professional Keystone Media Awards, and the Shenandoah Sentinel is receiving six.
This year’s awards double the Sentinel‘s total since 2021 and include awards for writing, photography, videography, and graphic design.
Noteworthy, this year also marks the first time the Sentinel‘s full team has been recognized. The Sentinel’s Kaylee Lindenmuth is also the second-most awarded individual journalist in Division IV in this year’s contest.
According to the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association, the Keystone Media Awards recognize “journalism that consistently provides relevance, integrity, and initiative in serving readers and audiences.”
Awards the Sentinel will receive include:
- First Place, Headline Writing, for Kaylee Lindenmuth’s following headlines:
- First Place, Graphic/Photo Illustration, for Kaylee Lindenmuth’s graphic recognizing Shenandoah Valley Boys’ Soccer’s 2024 Schuylkill League Division II championship;
- First Place, Sports Video, for Kaylee Lindenmuth’s football highlight video from the 2024 Shenandoah – Mahanoy football game;
- Second Place, Breaking News Coverage, for the Sentinel‘s team coverage of the May 2024 tornado in Mahanoy City, including:
- Social media posts on Sentinel platforms and on the Sentinel website as the situation unfolded;
- Team coverage the night of with photos from Micquelynn Kapuschinsky, Sherry Streeter, and reader submissions;
- A breakout story by Kaylee Lindenmuth exploring previous tornadoes in the region;
- Initial reports from the storm survey the next day as the Sentinel was the ONLY Schuylkill County-based news source attending;
- Honorable Mention, Feature Photo, for Kaylee Lindenmuth’s photo of combine harvester working a Pattersonville field in October.
- Honorable Mention, Sports Video, for Kaylee Lindenmuth’s interview with Shenandoah Valley Head Football Coach Dave Bench previewing the 2024 season.
