Counselors to be available at Pottsville High and in New Philadelphia after deaths
NEW PHILADELPHIA – Grief counselors will be at the Pottsville Area High School and the Good Intent firehouse, including a team of three tonight at the latter, after two people were found dead near this borough Tuesday morning.
The Pottsville Area School District made the announcement, confirming that Angel Caraballo, who attended Pottsville High last year, was one of the victims.
“Our counselors and administrators have been assisting students and families who need support and/or resources,” Superintendent Sarah Yoder said in the release. “Please reach out to your child(ren)’s school or counseling office for yourself or someone else in need. We appreciate our surrounding districts for offering their resources as well.”
“In addition to support at school, there will be a team of three counselors from Lehigh Valley Health Network available at the New Philadelphia Fire House beginning at 4 pm today, October 11, 2023,” Yoder continued. “This option is free to all children and adults.”
She offered condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Caraballo.
Caraballo was one of two people reported missing from New Philadelphia shortly before two people were found dead on Ferndale Road just east of town yesterday morning.
State Police have been mum on details and haven’t directly connected the missing persons report to the death investigation, let alone released the victims’ identities. Though, Tuesday morning’s press release on the investigation shared an incident number with one of the missing person releases.
Hunter Mock is the other missing person and was reportedly last seen at his home on Wetherill Street around 3:30pm Monday and left on foot in a hooded sweatshirt, shorts, and white/red sneakers.
The Troop L Major Case team is investigating.
