Who’s on the 2021 Primary ballot?

SHENANDOAH – Schuylkill County released the list of candidates for the 2021 Primary Election, which includes local mayoral, council, and magisterial district judge races, plus county sheriff, controller, and district attorney.

Let’s see who’s on the ballot:

Countywide

Schuylkill County Sheriff

Only two candidates on the ballot for a nomination for this seat this year, one for each party. Incumbent Joseph G. Groody is seeking the Democratic Party’s nod, while Douglas Litwhiler is running for the Republican party’s nomination.

The position comes with a four year term.

Schuylkill County Controller

For county controller, only one person is on the ballot — Sharyn M. Yackenchick, for the Republican party’s nomination.

The seat comes with a four-year term.

Schuylkill County District Attorney

Incumbent Michael O’Pake is the only person on the ballot, seeking the Democratic party’s nomination. No one is running for the Republican party’s nod.

The seat comes with a four-year term.

Shenandoah

Mayor

Incumbent Andrew J. Szczyglak is the only candidate on the ballot, seeking the Democratic party’s nomination. No one is running for the Republican nomination.

The mayoral position comes with a four-year term.

Borough Council

Four four-year seats are up for election this year, the seats of incumbents John Paul J.P. Dombrosky, Gordon Slater, Leo Pietkiewicz, and Katie Catizone.

Four four-year seats are up for election this year in Ashland.

  1. Thanks. Helpful info although a shame non-partisan registered voters have no opportunity to vote for school officials and magistrates – positions that should not be affiliated with political parties.
