Two injured after rollover crash in Mahanoy Township

PATRIOTIC HILL – Two people were taken to an area hospital after a rollover crash near this Mahanoy Township village Friday afternoon.

According to Mahanoy Township Police, the crash happened around 2:45pm Friday near 84 Suffolk Road.

A vehicle rolled over off the roadway and two women suffered minor injuries.

Police said the crash happened as the driver attempted to pass a garbage truck. While passing, oncoming traffic approached and the driver tried to return to the travel lane. They lost control and struck an embankment, rolling the vehicle.

Officers said an individual involved provided false information and will be charged as a result.

The driver will also be cited for careless driving and both the driver and passenger will be cited for a seatbelt violation.
