Most charges against ex-SV sign language interpreter held for court

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Kim McIntyre leaves district court in Shenandoah on Jan. 29, 2024 after her arraignment. With her is Attorney Joe Nahas.

SHENANDOAH – All but three charges against a former sign language interpreter at the Shenandoah Valley Jr./Sr. High School are moving on to Schuylkill County Court.

Kimberly Rae McIntyre, 32, of 328 West Plane Street, Gordon, was facing four felony counts each of institutional sexual assault — intercourse/sexual contact with a school student, and corruption of minors.

She was also facing felony statutory sexual assault, felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with someone less than 16 years of age, and misdemeanor indecent assault of someone less than 16 years of age.

She appeared before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker Thursday for a preliminary hearing and entered a not guilty plea. She is accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with two male students.

Three charges were dismissed because the victims were older than 16 when the incidents occurred and the charges specifically pertained to juvenile victims under that age.

The remaining charges — four felony counts each of institutional sexual assault — intercourse/sexual contact with a school student, and corruption of minors. — were bound for court.

McIntyre remains free on $100,000 unsecured bail.

According to the criminal complaint, the incidents came to light in March 2023 — the same month two support staff employees were fired — when administrators discovered from another employee that McIntyre had the relationships.

She is accused of meeting with two male students at various locations in Shenandoah at Gordon where the acts occurred. One victim told state troopers that the two had intercourse at McIntyre’s mother’s house in Gordon between 10 and 20 times.
