Marian football coach Dakosty retiring, again, as winningest coach in District XI

HOMETOWN – Marian Catholic Head Coach Stan Dakosty etched his name in history in his first 39 years leading the Colts.

After a three year hiatus that saw the program nearly collapse, forfeiting its final two games in a season where their only win came at Shenandoah, Dakosty came back to coach at the field that now bears his name.

In about as many years, the Colts were back playing for a District XI title this year.

For the 71-year-old Dakosty, it’s time, again, to hand off the rebuilt program to someone new.

Dakosty amassed 326 wins in his career, making him the 12th winningest head coach in Pennsylvania high school football history.

This year, he was fourth among active coaches and is #1 all-time in Schuylkill County and District XI.

The school said in a release that his statement victory was the 1990 State Championship against Farrell.

They are already searching for a new head coach, the school said.
