Mahanoy Little League celebrates opening day

MAHANOY CITY – The Mahanoy City Little League held their opening day ceremonies Saturday after rain nixed the original date in April.
The league recognized three members of the community by inducting them in the league’s hall of fame.
Those inductees are:
- Dan Markiewicz, Mahanoy City Fire Chief, on behalf of the fire department, which was one of the leagues first team sponsors;
- Willis Garber, in honor of 35 years of service to the league;
- Thomas Ward IV, on behalf of Ward Electric, a sponsor of 31 years.
League members also performed the National Anthem and the Little League Pledge.
