Mahanoy holds line on taxes in 2024

MAHANOY CITY – Taxes are staying the same for the sixth year in a row in Mahanoy City.

Borough Council approved the 2024 budget at Tuesday’s council meeting, keeping taxes at 35.524 mills.

Taxes haven’t been raised since 2018 in the borough, which recently emerged from Act 47.

The 2024 budget has revenues at $2,143,180 and expenses at $2,060,259.

In other business, council approved a wage increase for the streets department, a Christmas parade by the Citizens Fire Co., and a 90-day study to consider prohibiting parking on D Street from Market to Centre.
