LL 10-12 ALL-STARS: Pottsville outlasts Ashland under the lights

POTTSVILLE – Friday’s District 24 Little League 10-12 quarterfinal between Pottsville and Ashland was much closer than the final score indicated.

Facing off under the lights at Rotary Field in the city’s Yorkville section, the game was delayed two hours by thunderstorms that rolled through the county.

Pottsville finished pool play 4-0 while Ashland was 2-2.

It took three innings for either team to score, with Pottsville earning two runs in the third inning.

Pottsville held a 2-0 advantage until the fifth inning, when they added another run, which Ashland immediately answered.

In the final inning, with a 3-1 advantage, Pottsville ran away, scoring six runs to defeat Ashland 9-1.

Pottsville moves on to Monday’s semifinals, facing Upper Dauphin/Millersburg.
