VALLEY VIEW – It was the day of the Dawg defense in the Hegins Valley Friday night, as Tri-Valley hosted Shenandoah Valley.

Shenandoah entered the game 2-3 while Tri-Valley entered 3-2.

The Bulldogs found paydirt first via a pair of Cole Gemberling runs — one for 21 yards, stopped one short of the endzone, followed up by another to score — with about 7 minutes left in the first quarter.

With just over 3 minutes left in the 1st, Gemberling struck again, this time on defense, picking off a Ben Dempster-to-Nick Ryan pass and returning it 86 yards for the score. A missed point after made it 13-0 Tri-Valley.

Two minutes later, Blake Schwartz would return a Shenandoah punt to make the score 20-0.

With 2:49 left in the half, Noah Porter found paydirt for the Dawgs to take a 26-0 lead.

Just under a minute left in the half, Tri-Valley extended their lead to 33-0 as Blake Schwartz vaulted over the offensive and defensive lines for the score.

Tri-Valley’s defense stifled the Devils offense, with multiple stops and interceptions. In the first half, Shenandoah made a successful fake punt pass to convert, but was stopped short of a score.

The Devils would get on the board in the second half, via a pair of rushes by Alex Kozlosky and Brad Monjaraz.

Shenandoah moves on to host Marian Catholic next Friday for homecoming.
