HS BASKETBALL: Shen. boys defeat Haven in OT nailbiter

SHENANDOAH – The Blue Devils are moving on to the District XI 2A Semifinals after a nail-biter Friday night.

The #4-seeded Shenandoah boys squad faced the #5-seeded Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes at home for the quarterfinal matchup.

The two squads went back-and-forth throughout the game, with Haven leading 13-10 after one quarter, and Shenandoah leading 22-18 at the half.

Shenandoah would hold that lead after three, holding a 38-35 advantage.

Haven would close the gap by the end of regulation, sending the game into overtime with 49-apiece.

The Devils crowd, however, had reason to chant “We Are — SV” by the end of overtime, as Shenandoah emerged victorious 59-55.

Shenandoah had three players reach double-digits in scoring — Luke Matta with 23, Owen Kosar with 19, and Kaleb Maksimik with 10.

The Devils now move on to face Marian Catholic on Tuesday at a site and time to be determined.
