SHENANDOAH – An intersection closed since February in Shenandoah’s “Flats” section finally reopened to traffic this morning.

The intersection of West Coal and Walnut Street had been closed to traffic since February 4 after a drainage culvert beneath the roadway collapsed.

A One Service, Shenandoah, began work to repair the culvert in early June. Crews found a “menagerie of pipes” and tracks from Shenandoah’s former trolley line as work began.

Last week, the intersection was repaved, and early Monday morning, barriers were removed and the road reopened to traffic.
