HS FOOTBALL: Kutztown High blanks Shen. Valley 36-0
KUTZTOWN, Berks County – Kutztown High’s aggressive effort in Friday’s contingency game against Shenandoah Valley resulted in their first victory since 2016.
The Cougars entered Friday’s matchup with a 35-game losing streak, having last won against rival Fleetwood. Shenandoah, having snapped a similar losing streak earlier this season, looked to end the season on a high note.
Kutztown’s squad fired on all cylinders and then some, while the Devils struggled to find success moving the football. Adding insult to injury in that regard were actual injuries, one of which sidelined senior lineman Jason Migliaccio.
Several interceptions, plus a strategy in which Kutztown attempted an onside kick for every kickoff, kept the ball in the Cougars’ possession for much of the game.
Kutztown took an early two-score lead and never looked back, tacking on several scores, plus a safety, to finish 36-0 over Shenandoah.
Friday’s game concludes Shenandoah’s 10 game slate with a 1-9 record and Kutztown’s six game slate with a 1-5 record.
