Fire destroys Ringtown garage

RINGTOWN – A garage in this borough is destroyed, as is a new motorcycle within, after fire ripped through it early Friday morning.

Firefighters were called to a garage at Hancock and Cleveland Streets around midnight for reports of a fire.

Ringtown Valley Fire Chief Joseph Gilbert said volunteers responding to the firehouse passed the scene, spotting smoke coming from the building, though Gilbert saw flames as he came into town.

Firefighters from Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, Aristes, Sheppton, and more were called to the scene for the fire.

The fire was brought under control within about an hour, though units remained on scene until around 2:30am.

Gilbert told the Sentinel the cause appeared to be electrical, pinpointed to a specific outlet on the Cleveland Street side of the building.

No one was hurt in the blaze, though various contents within the garage, including a new motorcycle, were destroyed.
