RYAN TOWNSHIP – One person was rescued and flown to an area trauma center after a rollover crash on Interstate 81 overnight.
The crash happened just before 3:30am Tuesday morning on Interstate 81 Northbound near milepost 127.3 in Ryan Township.
Initial reports indicated entrapment and much of the typical first due companies were handling a house fire in the Park Crest section of the township. Thus, crews from Pottsville, Frackville, Mahanoy City, Hometown, and Ryan Township all responded.

An Infinity Q50 rolled over onto a guiderail along the passing lane of the highway. The driver was able to escape unharmed while a passenger was trapped in the vehicle.
The highway was shut down while firefighters rescued the passenger.
A Lehigh Valley MedEvac helicopter landed on the highway as well.

The passenger was tended to by medical personnel from Shenandoah, Frackville, and LVHN MedEvac before being flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest near Allentown.
The highway reopened shortly after, though the left lane remained closed while the car was removed.
State Police at Frackville responded and are investigating.
