Pilot weekend to encourage ATV riders to visit downtown Frackville
FRACKVILLE – A local outdoor recreation organization is teaming up with the borough and the local commerce group to allow off-road vehicle riders to access downtown Frackville.
Famous Reading Outdoors, Frackville Borough, and the Frackville Business and Professionals Association announced the effort Monday.
A pilot access weekend is planned for May 30-31, taking advantage of a recent ordinance allowing ATV’s on certain borough streets under certain conditions.
Licensed and properly permitted ORV operators will be permitted on designated borough streets in accordance with the ordinance.
The initiative, organizers say, is designed to create a controlled, safe connection from the FRO trail system to Frackville’s business district — strengthening tourism, supporting local commerce, and enhancing the region’s outdoor recreation footprint.
A 25mph speed limit will be strictly enforced as well.
The pilot event, organizers say, will allow Borough officials, law enforcement, and FBPA representatives to evaluate logistics, traffic flow, compliance, and economic impact before full implementation.
To encourage riders and visitors to support local establishments, FBPA will implement a Punch Card Program during the weekend
- Participating businesses will issue punches to customers who visit their establishments.
- Completed punch cards may be turned in at the conclusion of the event.
- Participants who submit completed cards will be eligible for prizes.
Businesses interested in entertaining riders during the May 30–31 pilot weekend — including offering special events, promotions, extended hours, or rider-focused discounts — are encouraged to contact FBPA at: [email protected].
This endeavor applies to Frackville Borough and not the West Mahanoy Township or Butler Township sections.
