Search continues for man last seen at Girardville strip mine

GIRARDVILLE – Do you know where Donald Hamaker is?
Donald George “DJ” Hamaker, 43, was last seen near a stripping pit near Girardville on May 28, 2024.
State Police at Frackville are continuing to investigate and say he was last seen fishing with two friends around 3am at the ‘A Hole’ abandoned strip mine south of the borough.
His kayak was found later that day overturned in the pit. His fishing poles were tied up in the kayak but his bait was on shore.
A multi-day, multi-jurisdictional effort to search the pit turned up no sign of Hamaker.
Troopers say he also wasn’t reported missing until 2:16pm the day he was last seen.
He remains missing.
