Man dies nearly a week after Kline Township e-bike crash
KELAYRES – A Kline Township man died Saturday, just under a week after he struck a utility pole while riding an e-bike.
Joseph D. Planutis, 53, of Kline Township, was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest near Allentown, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
He was riding an electric bicycle on 4th Street in Kelayres when he struck a utility pole around 7:44pm on Sunday, Sept. 28.
The coroner’s office ruled the cause of death to be blunt force head trauma.
State Police at Frackville are investigating.
