ALLENTOWN – Numerous local organizations are getting a financial boost thanks to the power company’s foundation.
The PPL Foundation, an arm of PPL Electric Utilities, is awarding more than $500,000 in grants across eastern and central Pennsylvania as part of their Empowering Communities program.
The grants, the Allentown-based company says, will help fund programs that promote environmental stewardship, expand access to critical needs and drive economic and workforce development.
“Across our communities, nonprofit organizations are doing incredible work – helping families access fresh food and safe housing, supporting small businesses, protecting our environment, and opening doors to career pathways,” said Lissette Santana, president of the PPL Foundation. “We’re proud to stand alongside these organizations and invest in their efforts to make our communities more resilient and sustainable.”
Local grant recipients include:
- CAN DO Community Foundation, Hazleton;
- Central Susquehanna Opportunities, Shamokin;
- Greater Hazleton Area Civic Partnership, Hazleton;
- Mount Carmel Area Community Center;
- Northeast PA Manufacturers & Employers Council, Pottsville;
- Schuylkill Chamber Foundation, Pottsville;
- Shamokin Area Business for Economic Revitalization, Coal Township.
