Dedication scheduled for new miners’ park in Sheppton

SHEPPTON – The date is now set for the dedication of a new Miners’ Memorial Park in Sheppton.
East Union Township announced Thursday the dedication ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 14 at 9 a.m.
Afterward, Polka Joe Manjack from WMGH-FM Tamaqua will be broadcasting live at the Sheppton American Legion.
The park, central to the village of Sheppton, commemorates the miners involved in the Sheppton Mine Disaster.
It was installed by Mericle Real Estate as a donation to the township.
