Two Mahanoy grads receive Urban scholarship

MAHANOY CITY – Two Mahanoy Area graduates were selected as recipients of the 2025 Urban Memorial Scholarship.
Alexis Chilinskas and William Mayberry were selected as this year’s recipients of the scholarship awarded to Mahanoy grads for more than 30 years.
Anthony James Urban and Brian Joseph Urban presented the scholarships recently on behalf of the Law Office of Anthony Urban.
Eligible scholarship applicants submit their academic and financial summaries along with their own essays as to why they feel they could benefit from the scholarship grant.
The two recipients were selected out of a group of ten applicants.
Both are heavily involved in their community and are involved in many activities outside of school.
Chilinskas ranked 1 out of 78, and will be attending the University of Pittsburgh studying Biochemistry. She plans to continue her studies for an advanced degree in the medical field.
Mayberry intends to pursue a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Nursing at Widener University and aspires to become a Nurse Practitioner.
Atty. Anthony Urban congratulated each recipient and presented them with a check from the scholarship fund. Atty. Brian Urban wished each of them well in achieving their educational goals and all graduating seniors from Mahanoy Area the best for their futures.

Anthony Joseph Urban, originally from Spruce Street in Mahanoy City, was a graduate of Mahanoy Area who began practicing law in 1962.
