SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah’s new secretary/treasurer was sworn-in Monday before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker.

In a 4-3 vote, borough council voted to appoint Mike Cadau, Sr. as secretary/treasurer Thursday, replacing Tony Sajone, borough manager, in that post.

Cadau thanked council for the opportunity and said he has 35 years of managerial and operational experience in government and business.

He said he served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army as well as with the Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency.

“I intend to work incredibly hard for the residents of Shenandoah. I grew up in this town; my wife and I live here and will retire here,” Cadau said. “It’s imperative that our town is successful. I will work with an open door policy, and I will be regimented, honest, professional and respectful.”

As of Monday, council has not taken any formal action regarding Sajone’s employment with the borough. He was hired as in April 2020. Municipal employees, including administrative staff, are not reappointed annually.
