Lincoln Drive bridge closed in Hometown
HOMETOWN – A bridge in Hometown is closed until further notice after PennDOT says it failed inspection.
Road closed signs were present at Lincoln Drive at the five points intersection Thursday evening.
PennDOT says the bridge, which spans the Reading and Northern Railroad, has shown significant deterioration where the main pieces of structural steel meet.
Traffic is being detoured onto Route 309.
The bridge is a steel girder-floorbeam structure built in 1924. It is 38 feet long and 25.2 feet wide. The average daily traffic on the bridge is 1,384 vehicles.
