SUV strikes Mt. Carmel Turkey Hill

MOUNT CARMEL, Northumberland County – A convenience store here is closed until further notice after an SUV destroyed a significant portion of its façade Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 3:30am at the Turkey Hill convenience store at 130 East 5th Street.

Firefighters were called to the scene for reports of a vehicle into a structure.

Crews from Mount Carmel’s Clover and Anthracite fire companies arrived to find a Jeep Grand Cherokee had struck the front wall of the store.

A sizable portion of the front façade was destroyed, and debris was scattered inside and outside the store.

No injuries were reported, though the store will be closed until further notice, while the company cleans up the debris and repairs the damage.

Also responding to the scene were Area Services EMS, Mount Carmel Police, and Mount Carmel Township Police.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Dave’s Towing, Kulpmont.
