Garage destroyed by fire in Nuremberg

NUREMBERG – Fire destroyed a garage in this North Union Township village early Wednesday morning.

Nuremberg-Weston and Sheppton-Oneida firefighters were called to the area of Main and School streets in the village just after midnight for reports of a fire.

One firefighter who lives nearby notified the county communications center that the fire was a fully-involved two-bay garage at 801 Main Street.

Tankers from Shenandoah, Ringtown, Hazle Township, and Harwood were added to the call, along with an engine from Sugarloaf Township and Shenandoah’s telesqurt.

The garage was destroyed in the blaze, and a pickup truck parked in front of the garage was also damaged.

The blaze was brought under control by 1:30pm, and Nuremberg-Weston firefighters remained on scene past 2:30am.

According to the Schuylkill County Parcel Locator, the property is owned by Joshua and Claudette Acker.

A State Police fire marshal was requested to the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Shenandoah Ambulance assisted at the scene.
