FOUNTAIN SPRINGS – The Shoener brothers, sons of legendary Pottsville band director Craig Shoener, are now at the helm of two of the three high school marching bands in the Sentinel’s coverage area.

Jacob Shoener announced in a public Facebook post Thursday that he had accepted the position of Director of Bands/Music Teacher at North Schuylkill Jr./Sr. High.

“I am overjoyed at this opportunity and cannot wait to get started and work with the high school students,” Jacob said. “What is even more humbling is the fact that my Dad served in this position for many, many years! I remember attending football games and parades with the band from a young age, and now everything is full circle!”

Jacob replaces William Lennox, who is going to Liberty High in Bethlehem.

“He has laid the ground work for a terrific band program and I look forward to ushering in continued growth and success in the years to come,” Shoener said of Lennox.

Jacob has been Assistant Band Director for Shenandoah Valley for the past several years, helping his brother, John, who has been director at Shenandoah since 2017.
