ASHLAND – Santa Claus made another stop “north of the mountain” today, this time in Ashland aboard his sleigh.

The jolly old elf climbed aboard a sleigh, pulled by an SUV, and paraded down Walnut Street from 21st Street to the Mother’s Memorial on Hoffman Boulevard.

Santa was led in the parade by the Ashland Police Department and joined by the Ashland Fire Department — the American Fire Co. and Washington Fire Co. and Ambulance. An American engine tailing Santa illuminated him and his sleigh.

Santa was greeted by a group of residents at the Mother’s Memorial. The town Christmas Tree was illuminated shortly after his arrival, and he made his way to the memorial to meet-and-greet children.

The meet-and-greet was socially distanced, with visitors standing street-level and Santa standing on the first landing on the way up to the memorial.

The event was organized by the Ashland Area Rotary.
