Ringtown firefighters make quick work of bathroom fire

RINGTOWN – A structure fire was contained to the bathroom of a double block home Sunday afternoon in this borough.

Firefighters from across northern Schuylkill and southern Columbia counties were called to a duplex at 417 West Main Street just after 7:00pm for a reported fire.

Ringtown firefighters arrived at the scene and reported a room-and-contents fire in the bathroom of 417.

Fire Chief Joseph Gilbert said fire and smoke damage was contained primarily to the bathroom and second floor of 417, and is believed to have started in the trash can in the bathroom.

Ringtown fire crews had the fire contained within about 10 minutes, and out-of-town units were cleared from the scene in short order.

Assisting Ringtown were firefighters from Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, Sheppton-Oneida, Aristes, and more, as well as Shenandoah Ambulance.
