SHENANDOAH – Our area’s three local school districts have entered 2019 What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? video contest, and they need your votes!

The contests are through the Manufacturers Resource Center of Allentown, Lehigh County, which first hosted them in 2013.

“The teams of students and teacher coaches receive camera equipment, software, and professional guidance as they learn to script, record, and edit their video stories,” their website states. “The contest’s objective is to change students’ perceptions about manufacturing careers.”

Our local school districts are a part of the Berks/Schuylkill regional contest, facing distant schools such as Fleetwood, Kutztown, and Wilson, as well as other county schools such as Tri-Valley.

Shenandoah Valley produced a 2 minute 40 second video spotlighting Mrs. T’s Pierogies on the east end, showing how pierogies are made and interviewing employees at the facility.

Mahanoy Area students went to Fabcon Precast outside Mahanoy City, creating a 2 minute 25 second video explaining what the facility does and speaking to employees.

North Schuylkill traveled into the Tri-Valley region of the county to highlight Sterman Masser and Keystone Potatoes near Hegins with 2 minute 29 second video.

The videos can be viewed and voted on here: https://www.whatssocool.org/contests/berks-schuylkill/

Voting runs until March 1 at midnight.
