New Philly man arrested for swiping catalytic converter near Tamaqua

TAMAQUA – A New Philadelphia man is facing charges, accused of swiping a catalytic converter from someone’s car on Stadium Hill, just across the Tamaqua borough line in Walker Township.

State Police at Frackville charged 47-year-old Ryan Thorne, of New Philadelphia, with felony theft and receiving stolen property, along with misdemeanor criminal mischief and summary trespass.

Troopers said Sunday that they were called on April 27 around 3pm for the reported theft.

They said Thorne stole the catalytic convertor from a 2004 Ford and fled into the woodlands.
