MINERSVILLE Postponed from Thursday due to storms, Sunday’s game wasn’t much drier.

Shenandoah Valley and Minersville contended with downpours throughout the first half and, for one side, what one could call a scoring deluge.

The Battlin’ Miners put up 42 unanswered points in the first half of the game, all of which were scored by Luke Stevenosky, tying the school’s record for touchdowns in a game.

The running back had 163 yards on the game through 12 carries for six touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, though, he drew ire from Devils faithful after he picked up Shenandoah Joel Nunez and brought the freshman down hard, taking the Devils’ leading rusher out of the game.

Shenandoah’s only score in the game, though, was also a record-breaker. Quarterback Ben Dempster found star receiver Nick Ryan for the senior’s seventh touchdown of the season. Ryan’s touchdown reception — his 7th of the year — broke the school record for career receiving touchdowns, now set at 22 and counting.

The Devils move on to face Panther Valley at home next Friday.
