HS BASKETBALL: Spartan boys eliminate Northwestern Lehigh in nailbiter, 59-56

POTTSVILLE – The Spartans narrowly punched their ticket to the District XI 4A semifinals in nailbiting fashion Friday night at Martz Hall.

The now-17-8 North Schuylkill squad faced the Tigers of Northwestern Lehigh.

At first, it appeared to be a Tiger advantage as the two squads exchanged blows.

After the first quarter, the Spartans trailed 18-12, and the deficit remained similar at the half, 32-28 in Northwestern Lehigh’s favor.

The Spartans took the lead later, holding a 46-42 advantage entering the 4th quarter.

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL – North Schuylkill’s #11 Jack Keiter shoots a lay-up.

They hung on at the buzzer, defeating the Tigers 59-56.

Jack Keiter led the Spartans’ scoring effort with 22 points, and Zane Zulkowski added 20 as well.

They move on to face Blue Mountain Tuesday night at 7:30pm at Martz Hall in the semifinals.
