Clarks Summit man killed in I-81 crash in Cass Township

HIGHRIDGE – A Lackawanna County man was killed in a single vehicle crash this afternoon on the interstate in Cass Township, according to state troopers.
The crash occurred around 2:00pm when a Ford F-250 travelling southbound on I-81 near mile marker 117 struck a guard rail in the median, travelling along it for a short time before crossing over it.
The truck then went down an embankment and struck a tree, killing the driver, Donald J. Bryk, 48, of Clarks Summit, according to state police.
Bryk was pronounced dead at the scene by a Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner. He was wearing his seatbelt.
