18-year-old injured in Delano crash

DELANO – An 18-year-old from Tamaqua was taken to a Coaldale hospital for minor injuries after a crash in this village Monday morning.

State Police at Frackville said the crash happened around 10:00am on Hazle Street about a quarter of a mile south of Riverside Avenue.

Troopers said Dylan Robinson, 18, of Tamaqua, was headed eastbound on Hazle Street at a high rate of speed in a 1992 Mercury Topaz.

Robinson, they said, failed to negotiate a left-hand turn, striking a utility pole.

He was taken to St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital in Coaldale for treatment of a minor injury.

The roadway was temporarily closed, as a utility pole had been severed.

Robinson was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Steve’s Towing, Shenandoah.

Troopers said Robinson will be cited for speeding.

Responding to the scene along with State Police were Delano Township Fire, Ryan Township Fire, and Ryan Township EMS.
