14-year-old takes car without permission, downs road sign

ENGLEWOOD – A 14-year-old will be cited after they took an SUV without permission, slid through an intersection, downed a road sign, and fled in Englewood earlier today.
The incident occurred around 2:15pm today in the area of West Oak, 7th, and Frack Streets in Englewood, Butler Township.
According to State Police at Frackville, an unnamed 14-year-old boy from Ashland, driving a Chevy Equinox, was headed east on Route 61 towards Frackville borough, and attempted to turn onto North 7th Street.
He failed to slow for the turn, slid through the intersection, traveled onto a grassy area, and downed a Fire Station Ahead sign before taking off eastbound on Frack Street.
The car was found three blocks away, parked and unoccupied, and it was found that the teen had taken the car without permission.
The teen will be cited for the incident.
