Second alarm struck for Nuremberg brush fire
NUREMBERG – A large brush fire in North Union Township was stopped short of several homes on the outskirts of this village Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the 400 block of Millers Road around 1:30pm for a reported brush fire. Smoke could be seen as far as Brandonville.
Nuremberg-Weston crews arrived to find an estimated six acre field aflame, encroaching on homes on Millers Road, and a second alarm was struck.
Additional resources from Shenandoah, Ringtown, Sheppton-Oneida, and Beaver Township were brought to the scene, as well as DCNR.
Crews kept the fire from reaching the dwellings and had the fire contained within about an hour.
A fire police officer was treated at the scene for an arm injury.
