NORTHERN SCHUYLKILL – The following is a compilation of police incidents handled by the Pennsylvania State Police in and around northern Schuylkill County recently.
Frackville man facing DUI charges in Ashland
A Frackville man is facing DUI charges after he was stopped in downtown Ashland last week.
Troopers from the Frackville barracks stopped Ryan Wagner’s 2014 Volkswagen Jetta in the area of 308 West Centre Street around 8:00pm on Feb. 7.
Wagner, 25, of Frackville, troopers said, displayed signs of impairment and was taken into custody for DUI.
Stop signs, mailboxes vandalized in Klingerstown
State Police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating vandalism to stop signs and mailboxes in Upper Mahantongo Township over the weekend.
The vandalism in the area of Main Street and Ridge Road, Klingerstown, was discovered around noon Sunday, Feb. 9 and is believed to have occurred around 4:00am the same day.
Several stop signs and mailboxes on Ridge Road were vandalized, troopers said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police at Schuylkill Haven at 570-593-2000.
Pottsville man arrested for credit card fraud in Mill Creek
A Pottsville man is facing charges after he fraudulently purchased two cases of beer on Sunday.
Troopers from the Schuylkill Haven barracks say Joseph Boris, 29, of Pottsville purchased two cases of beer, valued at $70.99, from Scanlan Beverage in the Mill Creek section of Norwegian Township with a Visa credit card.
The business was notified after the sale was completed that the purchase was fraudulent and subsequently denied.
Charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge David Plachko’s office, troopers said.
Jersey man strikes utility pole in TIDE Industrial Park
A New Jersey man was cited for traffic violations after troopers say he struck a utility pole at the TIDE Industrial Park outside Hometown Monday morning.
The crash happened just after 6:00am on Progress Avenue, when Pedro Ramos Jr., 23, of Vineland, New Jersey, left the roadway and struck the pole.
Ramos’ Acura TSX was towed from the scene.
No injuries were reported, and Ramos was wearing his seatbelt.
Ramos will be cited for traffic violations.
Shenandoah man facing DUI charges after stop in Ashland
A borough man was arrested for DUI last week in Ashland.
State Police at Frackville stopped 44-year-old Robert Collins, of Shenandoah, in the area of Boyer’s Food Markets around 8:30pm on Feb. 7.
Troopers said he was arrested for DUI and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Schuylkill for a blood test.
Paycheck wired to false account in Hazle Township
State Police at Hazleton are investigating a report that a paycheck from a Valmont Industrial Park company was deposited into a false account.
Troopers were called to EAM-Mosca in the Valmont Industrial Park around 2:30pm Monday for the report, in which a $748.85 paycheck was deposited into a false account.
An investigation is ongoing, and troopers ask anyone with any additional information to contact them at 570-459-3890.
Hazleton woman nabbed for warrants, drug charges in city
A Hazleton woman is locked up in Luzerne County Prison after a traffic stop in the city last week.
Troopers say they stopped a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 around 2:28am on Feb. 6 in the area of East 17th and Carson for multiple vehicle code violations.
A passenger, Heather Mumie, 35, of Hazleton, was found to have several active arrest warrants in Columbia and Luzerne Counties and was subsequently taken into custody.
Possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges were filed as well, troopers said.
