North Carolina man killed in Interstate crash
KLINE TWP. – A North Carolina man was killed when his SUV rolled on Interstate 81 early Monday morning.
The crash happened around 1:30am on I-81 Northbound near mile marker 138.8 in Kline Township, near McAdoo.
State Police at Frackville said Jody Moffett, 52, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was killed in the crash.
Troopers said he was headed north in the right lane of I-81 in a 1997 Ford Explorer when he drifted into the left lane.
He overcorrected while trying to re-enter the right lane and rolled the SUV several times.
He was not wearing his seatbelt, and was ejected from the vehicle.
Assisting at the scene were McAdoo Fire, McAdoo Ambulance, Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS, Mahanoy City’s West End Fire Co., Hometown and Delano Fire Police, PennDOT, and the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office.
