Gilberton man unharmed in Lebanon County I-81 crash
SWATARA TWP., Lebanon County – A Gilberton man escaped injury when he was rear-ended on Interstate 81 here as he was stopped for another crash.
State Police at Jonestown said the crash happened as snow fell around 10:00am Monday at mile marker 93.4 of I-81 between Pine Grove and Fort Indiantown Gap.
Troopers said Christian Pytko, 35, of Gilberton, was at a complete stop in the left lane for a three-vehicle crash about a mile down the road, which wholly blocked the road, when he was rear-ended by 21-year-old Hunter Sowers, of Middletown.
Sower’s 2019 Kia Optima slid as he applied the brakes, and collided with Pytko’s 2006 Ford F350.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, and neither were injured. Sowers will be cited for speeding, troopers said.
No one was injured in the separate crash, which closed the road for three hours as a tractor trailer jackknifed.
